What To Expect

Calling out passionate cyclists for the Hudson Gravel Ride. This ride is for those who want to escape the unfolds of New York City and seek adventure. There will be rolling hill climbs, technical dirt terrain, rough sections of gravel, and tarmac. This ride is for novice to experienced riders due to the endurance level needed for an extended ride at a fast pace, but there will be rest stops. Manual Pedal Group Rides promote camaraderie and inclusiveness of all cyclists regardless of gender or background. Let’s #pedalovereverything

Ride Breakdown

The ride starts at Monkey Cup on 118th Street & Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd. Please arrive at 7 AM as we roll out at 7:30 AM SHARP. The ride heads uptown to cross over the George Washington Bridge onto River Road in NJ. We will ride along the Hudson River with long stretches and a few climbs on tarmac. We then explore off the beaten path riding through dirt tracks and gravel byways to the Governor Cuomo Bridge. From there, we ride downstate NY on the old croton aqueduct trail taking us back into New York City where we end the ride where we started. Bring a helmet, plenty of water and some nutrition for yourself along with tools to repair your bike in the event that anything goes south, including at least 2 tubes. Mount day time running lights for safety and wear gloves if available. I always recommend a cycling computer with Strava or Smartphone App to record your efforts and to share with the group. A gravel bike is recommended but the route can also be ridden on a road bike with 28c tires and up.
