Giant released a new iteration of the TCR road bike that makes it lighter, stiffer, more aerodynamic, and packed with a range of options. Giant seemed to have taken a different approach to frame design and made the new TCR more compact moving away from the oversized top and down tubes. Giant says it’s the new model is 7 to 8 watts faster than its predecessor and has everything to do with its ellipse tubing shapes that has flat backs found on the popular Giant Propel.
What I like most about the TCR Advanced is the option of choosing between rim and disc brake models. Many manufactures are shying away from the rim brake and manufacturing frames that are optimized for disc brakes. While the disc may offer more stopping power, they also pack on more weight. If you’re looking for a bike to be as light as possible and capable of being a great climbing machine, then a disc brake TCR is an option.
Giant overhauled the steerer tube with what they call OverDrive 2, giving it a (1 ½” lower, and 1 ¼’ upper) which provides the rider with more steering stiffness and improved handling. On top of that, the TCR has room for 32c tires on its disc brake model.
